The Turismo de Portugal team develops a set of activities aimed at the trade, press and opinion leaders, to promote Portugal as a destination and support the commercial action of Portuguese tourism companies.
It focuses particularly on the detection of commercial opportunities, acting with a view to enhancing the destination’s visibility and reputation, either through brand activation or public relations campaigns.
Its performance is strongly based on knowledge, through the constant search for technical information and connection to knowledge networks.
// The market Canada has a diverse and inclusive population, strongly influenced by European values and culture. The long, cold, snowy winters provide Canadians with real motivation to travel. While European and Caribbean destinations are popular choices, many Canadians still prefer domestic tourism and the United States. At the same time, the sheer size of Canada, the world’s second-largest country, is a constraint that favours this closer offering. For example, it takes five hours to fly from Toronto to Vancouver.
Canada is a progressive country and its citizens are hugely concerned about climate change. More and more Canadians are expected to seek sustainable travel options, choosing eco-friendly accommodation, supporting conservation efforts and reducing their carbon footprint.
// Tourist profile
Nature and outdoor activities are often a priority and are at the top of the list of new trends, along with sustainable and eco-friendly travel. There is a growing interest in adventure travel and unique and engaging experiences. This trend includes activities such as cultural and gastronomic immersion trips, adventure sports and wildlife safaris.
Health and wellness travel is also in greater demand, including revitalisation retreats, thermal resorts and holistic health experiences. This trend has been accelerated by the pandemic, with travellers prioritising their physical and mental well-being.
Associated with this health and wellness travel movement, the so-called “Workation” and remote working travel, has created travel opportunities in which more Canadians take advantage of the ability to work from remotely from anywhere, allowing for longer stays in destinations and a combination of work and leisure.
