Travel and Tourism Agencies

_ The organisation and sale of package travel and the facilitation of related travel services, where the facilitator receives payments from the traveller in respect of services provided by third parties;

_ The representation of other domestic or foreign travel and tourism agencies, as well as intermediation in the sale of the respective products;

_ The booking of services in tourism enterprises and local accommodation establishments;

_ The sale of tickets and the reservation of seats in any means of transport;

_ The welcoming, transfer and assistance to tourists;

_ To carry out the above activities in Portugal, companies must register in the National Travel and Tourism Agents Register (RNAVT), subscribe to the Travel and Tourism Guarantee Fund (FGTV) (through a contribution of 2,500.00€) and take out a liability insurance policy that covers the risks arising from their activity, in accordance with the coverage established by law;

_ A fee of 750.00€ is payable to Turismo de Portugal I.P. for registration in the RNAVT.​

_ ​Travel and Tourism Agencies legally established in another EU Member State or European Economic Area may also perform these activities, provided that such practice is occasional and sporadic and they have previously submitted to Turismo de Portugal I.P. documentation proving the contracting of guarantees equivalent to those required for registration in the National Travel and Tourism Agencies Register.​
