The European Commission is launching a survey about the Platform-to-Business regulation aimed at tourism platforms and companies that provide online services.

The European Commission is launching a survey aimed at tourism platforms and companies that provide online services. The goal is to assess the effectiveness of the Platform-to-Business (“P2B”) Regulation in business interactions between platforms and market operators. The survey is mainly aimed at the Accommodation/Hotel and Online Travel Agency sector (online platforms and their business users).

The Platform-to-Business (“P2B”) regulation, adopted in 2019, has been in force since July 2020 and establishes a fairer and more transparent framework for the relationship between online platforms and business users.

In September 2023, the Commission issued its first report on the implementation of the P2B regulation, in which it found that there is widespread ignorance among business owners of their own rights and non-compliance with the rules of online platforms. Tourism is one of the sectors most affected, with cases such as unresolved disputes or technical issues affecting business before the high season.
