Portugal is, from 1 June, the first country to provide the European Tourism COVID-19 Safety Seal. The adherents of the Clean & Safe seal will automatically be able to use the visual identity of the European Tourism COVID-19 Safety Seal.
Created by the
European Committee for Standardisation in partnership with the
European Commission, this European seal is optional and, like the Clean & Safe Seal, can only be displayed by companies and activities in the tourism value chain that guarantee compliance with the health and safety measures identified by the Health authorities to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The Clean & Safe Seal, implemented in April 2020 and updated in May 2021, was thus one of the examples that served as a basis for the European work to create a seal for the confidence of international tourists, with the
European Tourism COVID-19 Safety Seal being duly articulated with the requirements and procedures of the national seal, created by Turismo de Portugal.
Holders of the Clean & Safe Seal can thus download the
European Seal from CEN European Committee for Standardization, and use them together in their physical premises and digital communication channels.
This new health and safety protocol is aimed at the safe reopening of tourism and the promotion of the reputation of the European Union as a quality tourist destination.
