Turismo de Portugal has today paid 22,839 tourism companies the amount of 70 million euros foreseen in the SUPPORT TOURISM measure, announced by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Trade and Services, Nuno Fazenda, at the beginning of this month and approved by Ordinance no. 295-A/2022, of 13 December.

The deadline to request the financial support ended last 22 December and, given the high demand registered and the measure's budget allocation, each of the companies received an increase of around 12.5% in relation to the values already received in the Apoiar (Support) Programme.

The aim of this measure was to respond to the needs of the sector most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, to which can now be added the impacts of an adverse macroeconomic environment, due to the effects of inflation, increased energy costs and the context of conflict within the European area.

The Support Tourism Measure, part of the APOIAR Programme, a treasury support instrument, is part of the Medium-Term Agreement to Improve Income, Wages and Competitiveness, signed by the Government and social partners on 9 October.
